24 Hour Clock, Latin, Registration, Cool Secretaries, and God's Awesomeness!

So, I have been having a fun time with registering for courses.  First of all I had to make a timetable to plan out what I would like to do next year.  So I thought that I had a perfect timetable and everything was going to be perfect.  That would have been true if it wasn't for the fact that the course descriptions had all the times in the twelve hour clock and my worksheet was in a 24 hour clock.  If anyone reading this has ever gone through this process then you know what happened next.  I decided to double check all of the courses I wanted to take, just in case I thought.  It is a very good thing that I am a bit paranoid because I had accidentally put my chemistry lab in the 4-6 pm slot instead of the correct 2-4 pm slot.  This meant that I could not take my elective course, which was history.  Unfortunately, I need five courses in order to get my student loan.  After another bout of panic I finally found a chemistry course that would work.  At the same time I found an elective course that would work.  Any guesses to what that course was?  Anyone?  If you guessed Latin, you are right!  Actually, seeing as I was supposed to take biology but couldn't fit it in, Latin is the next best thing.  At least it will help me in biology later on.

The story doesn't finish there though.  So this morning I got up at four in the morning so I could register for university courses.  For those of you who do not understand why, I live in British Columbia for the moment and in my university is in Newfoundland which is in a different time zone.  This early morning was made even more fun when I could not register for any math courses.  So I had to phone, and the line was busy so I had to hang up and redial, hang up and redial, hang and redial, etc, etc....I finally got a person on the line and I was sent from one department to another, and I was actually helpful!  I got that figured out but then could not register for my chemistry course.  So I had to call yet again, which it terrible for me as I am terrified of the phone, don't ask me why because I don't know.  Turns out that because the BC government is so slow when marking the English provincial exams my transcript hasn't been sent off yet.  Thankfully, I could send off my report card and get a prerequisite waiver so I could get chem courses.  I thought that everything would work out, but then I found out that the two chem classes that I wanted were reserved for engineering students.  I had to figure out another way to get my timetable done.  As usual God made everything better.  In fact the new timetable is even better than the original!  God is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and just to say the secretaries were very nice, and helpful.  As today was the first day of registration they were tried out from everything that was going on, but they were still polite.  Of course I also tried to be as nice as possible so that may have helped a bit.  But overall it was a long, stressful, and good day.

Mosquitoes, Duct-tape, Course Confusion, and Doctors

I have officially been eaten alive.  The screen in my room has holes, lots of holes and mosquitoes have an amazing ability of finding these holes.  So my dad fixed the problem with what is probably the most hick solution ever.  What was this solution?  Duct-tape.  Yes, we actually put duct-tape on the screen to cover the holes.  Not the prettiest solution but it works and it's far better than getting twenty bites every night while I'm trying to sleep.  Last night there were about thirty mosquitoes on my screen within about a half hour of the sun starting to set.  By the time the sun was almost fully set there were close to a hundred on my screen trying to get in.  After staring at them for a while I discovered that they were making words with their bodies.  I'm pretty sure that they were spelling GO.  Awww, even the mosquitoes are trying to encourage me,  Or it could be that I was just over tired and brain drained from trying to figure out how to make all my courses work together ina timetable for next year.

Anywhosels, I have been having so many problems trying to fit biology, chemistry and physics together on the same schedule.  The main problem I'm having is trying to keep at least one day free.  Also it seems that no matter what there is always one lab that runs over another class' lecture or the lectures are all right after each other.  Thankfully I think that after looking at a campus map I have figured out a way to make everything work.  The reason I had to look at a map was so I could see which rooms I would have to run to.  So I have decided that I could run to my physics class right after my chemistry class...I think...Of course even in the worse case scenario I can always take an elective instead of biology and find something interesting that fits into my schedule.  No matter what I do I'm going to be busy for at least ten hours a day five days a week.  Thankfully there are no classes on Saturday or Sunday so I have the weekends free to volunteer, join some groups, do homework, and go to church.  It's still gonna suck though....

So, a couple days ago I went to the doctor's office to get my finger checked out.  It turns out that I was just typing too much one day (when I was doing a quarter of my history course in ten hours) and injured my finger from too must constant use.  The doctor then wanted to get me tested for diabetes again.  So I had to go home and fast all night and in the morning getting bitten by mosquitoes (me screen had not been fixed at that point) just so I could get dizzy and have my blood sucked by a human this time.  Yay.....

Well, I really have nothing else to say and I have to go to town before it gets too hot (another reason I want to go to St, John's, it's only 20 degrees there).  So bye bye!!!!  Hopefully I will be able to start posting once a week from now on, if I remember that is ;)

Confusing Courses, Happy Hikes, Bad Boyfriends, and Apparently Alliteration

To weeks ago on a Wednesday was the last time I had to step foot into my high school.  Seeing as I am going to Newfoundland for university, I will probably not be able to visit for at least two years.  Since I promised myself that I was not going to lie in this blog I will admit that I was nearly in tears.  Thankfully I was able to hold them in until later, and if you were to see me in the street now and ask me if I almost cried I would deny it.  I don't cry in public, unless I'm having a complete breakdown, or I was just shot, then I might cry....

Anyway, although school may be out I still have courses to do.  Instead of paying for courses in September, I decided to do a few over the summer.  THEY ARE KILLING ME!!!  Both courses require math which is by far my worst subject and so I'm suffering through them.  I thankfully have parents that do not mind me suddenly interrupting their day to complain.  That along with help from the internet will probably be the only way that I will be able to finish.  Of course it would also help if I could concentrate on the courses, but they are sooooooo boring.  I'm pretty sure that they purposely write the courses so anyone who reads them will fall asleep.  To bad I have to continue on with them....  Then again I only have to take one so the other one is going to be dropped.

On a more positive note, I got a book to help me with my calculator or as the company likes to call it a hand held math learning tool.  It literally is the size of a hand held computer, about ten times the size of cell phone.  However it does work wonders, if you know how to use it that is.  I did not have anyone around me that could teach me how to use it so I had to buy a book.  Nothing like a a dummies book to help you figure things out.  So now I have a a new best friend to help em understand my old best friend.  Thankfully the book is not as large as I thought it would be.  Also, the book was written by one the math advisers for the show Numbers.  I guess that he knows what he's talking about.

So, my dad and I went on a hike a week ago and we took some nice pictures.  There was a pretty butterfly on a flower and some really cool wild flowers.  Overall it was just a nice break from school work.  I love taking pictures of the forest and the picture of the sunflower on the left was one of my favourite.  There are tons of those in a field under the trees.  The trees were spread far apart so I guess that there was enough sunlight for them to grow.  It was really surprising actually, I have been hiking around town for many years and I have never seen any flowers like these ones before.  Then again, I probably just never went to the right area of the woods before.  Whatever the reason, I'm glad that I saw it this time, the view was breathtaking.

So, there is a guy in this town that I really don't like.  At first he dated on of my friends, not a really close friend, but I still didn't agree with their relationship.  Now he is going out with one of my good friends.  The worst part is she used to think that he was a creep just like I think he is.  I'm starting to wonder if he can brain wash girls into dating him, or maybe there are just too many desperate girls in this town.  I mean I know how one could become desperate, it's not there are many choices in a small village.  Still, considering that all of my friends are older than me it means that we are about to move out of this town and get on with our lives.  I don't think that we should start out the beginning of the rest of our lives with a bad relationship.  Oh and for the record, she knows how I feel which is exactly why she didn't tell me and even avoided the question.  Oh well, all I can do is pray and try not to offend her too much.

So, now that I've caught up on this blog (I started it a week ago but just now finished) I need to start on the next one.  Bye for now!!!
