I live in a house with a few other people. All of us have different and often changing schedules for both school and work. This makes doing laundry a rather challenging endeavor especially when others have to do laundry on the same day. As my luck would have it, there is always someone doing laundry at the time I need to do it (much like how there is always someone in the bathroom when I need to go). This fact has forced me to let out this particular rant.
For those who would suggest a laundry schedule, that is not practical considering that no one ever has a guaranteed day off every week. Working in the service industry means that I personally have a varied schedule depending on the week. This means that I have to do laundry whenever I have to and the machine is free. If someone else is currently doing laundry I'll patiently wait until hey are done before starting to do my own washing. However, if they leave the house for work and leave their laundry in the dryer I get very irritated. I can stand waiting for a couple of hours for their laundry to be complete, but I refuse to wait for 8 or more hours simply because they're forgetful.
This leads me to the dreadful deed of moving others laundry. In order for me to complete my laundry I have to use the dryer so I have to move other people's clothes out of it when they forget them there. It is very unpleasant for me to touch other people's clothes partly because I don't want to touch anyone's underwear and partly because I have no where to put it except on top of the machine which makes setting the machine more difficult. To make matters worse there are a few people I have lived with who complain when I move their clothes so I can dry my own. Most often they argue that I could have waited, to which my response is that they could have move their clothes before going to work. As much as my actions may be seen as impolite, I find it even more impolite to leave stuff lying around in a shared space.
Even though a necessity the laundry room is a shared space, and so should be kept clean when not in use. If the machines aren't actually running then the room is not actually being put to use and therefore should be cleaned of any clothes. It is only the polite thing to do when you live with others who need to use it. I get annoyed by people leaving clothes in the washer or dryer in the same way I get annoyed when someone leaves their toiletries all over the rim of the bathtub/sink in the bathroom. It's fine if you're the only one using the room, but when you know others have to use it too you should be polite and keep your stuff to your space. If you don't do that you can't be surprised if someone moves your stuff in order to make use of the room.
I understand that sometimes you get busy and have to do laundry along with a million other things, but that is not an excuse for forgetting your laundry in the machine. Everyone has cell phones (at least everyone I've lived with) and there are timer apps for all types of phones, so you can easily set the timer to remind you to get your laundry. I've been guilty of leaving my laundry in for too long as well, but I also left my laundry basket on top of the machine so the next person just had to put my laundry in the basket and place the basket out of the way on the floor. That's how it's done in a number of communal living settings.
For example, when I lived on campus there was a sign on the laundry room door stating that if you left your laundry in the machine someone else could and most likely would move it so they could use the machine. They also suggested the basket rule, where you always leave your laundry basket on or by the machine you were using so that if someone needed the machine right away they could just move the laundry into your basket and not on the floor.
It basically all comes down to planning. If you're going to do laundry plan to do it at a time when you'll be able to be home to take it out of the machine at a reasonable time. If you're laundry is in the dryer for an hour then you have time to go out and do some errands for an hour, if it's only in for a half hour then you have to be home to take it out in a half hour. If you know you wont be able to be home when it finishes then leave a basket there so there's somewhere to put the clothes. If you do none of this then don't be surprised to find your clothes in a pile on the floor and/or discover that your roommates have been stewing about laundry issues for a while.
I think that's all I have to say on this matter. It's been one of those weeks so there may be more rants on the way....

Stubborn People
After watching several documentaries on the degradation of the earth I find one thing very interesting. Even though there are people dying from cancer because of pollution of water, and there are farmers who are going bankrupt because of changes to the land has caused flooding on their land and damaging crops, the average person still doesn't understand what it has to do with them. I can't get my mind around that.
It seems that no one is able to see the big picture or their place in it. There are two things that we use daily that are slowly disappearing: oil and water. There are multiple studies prove this is true and suspect that it will happen in the next hundred years or so. Unfortunately, there's currently no way to prevent this unless people change the way they live. We have been taught from a young age that it's humans that are polluting the earth and yet we don't want to change. We'll take convenience over saving the planet. The most ironic thing is that by keeping things convenient now we're making things worse for the future. There is no need to have three cars, or seven shower heads in your bathroom, or an olympic sized swimming pool, or a green lawn. All those things may make people think that you're well off, but that's going to mean nothing when things start running low.
I understand the want for nice things, but why not put in a nice looking high efficiency toilet instead of a specially designed one? If you want to show off your wealth why not buy solar panels for your house and use them to charge a brand new electric car? Or you could put in a filtering system that takes your waste and cleans it so it's safe to drink or water your plants. And for goodness sake you don't need to take an hour long shower to get clean! You also don't need to do laundry every other day. It's a waste and even though shortages may not be affecting us now, it will eventually.
The average persons part in the use of oil is obvious, you can see it whenever you try to get to work on time. However, although many are still in denial about their part in oil depleting, most people still don't understand how fast fresh water is disappearing and how it will eventually effect them. Here's how it works: without water crops fail, farmers go out of business, we have to get food from other sources which raise prices, soon those sources are overwhelmed and price rise again, in order to keep the minimum amount needed cities have to either limit water to households, or tax water use. Not to mention that water is used in the production process of almost everything we eat, wear, drive, and drink. Therefore water shortages could effect the prices of those things as well. However, there are simple solutions.
There are personal, municipal, and national things that can be done. On a personal level you can choose to get a toilet that uses less water than others, take shorter showers, only wash your car when you have to, only do laundry once every week or two, turn off the tap when you're not using it, and by sucking it up and going to public places to swim (or to a lake or ocean). Cities can help by placing taxes on water usage. Obviously each household has to be given an appropriate amount of water for how many people live there, and a monitor should be placed on the water line going into the house so the inhabitants can know when they're approaching their limit but a fine should be set up for those who go over the set limit. Towns and cities can also choose to build "water recycling plants". That is, they could take the sewage that they normally just dump in an ocean or river, and take the water out of it and clean it up. If the process is done right the resulting water is almost as pure as distilled water. On a national level there can be laws put in place to put pressure on provinces to encourage their cities to put into place the above measures, as well as ensure that all companies are held to the same if not stricter standards as residents when it comes to water usage.
Well, that's all I have to complain about for the moment. I realize that I ended up taking more about water than oil, but I feel that more people are informed about the oncoming "oil crisis" than the shortages of water. Of course my opinion is tainted by growing up in an area with forest fires that required us to limit water usage, but considering the state of things I believe that the same measures that were taken then should be applied everywhere. For those who like their long showers, go cry me a river, the world needs another one.

Broke again
4 months, 62 resumes, and 18 interviews later and I still don't have a job. I know that job searching is hard, but what annoys me is the reason why no one wants to hire me. I keep getting the same response over and over again, "I'm sorry but we don't like to hire students...". It usually ends with some sort of reason as to why they don't hire students, they range from "students don't have flexible enough schedules" to straight out "we don't trust students to show up regularly".
I'm living in a university city. Most of the people here who are desperate for jobs are students. Although I agree that there are lots of students that aren't trustworthy, there are some of use who are. Students are in desperate need of jobs, and some of us are willing to do the crappy part-time jobs to get money. I have even decided to apply to Tim Hortons regardless of my bad experience with fast food before. I just need a job that gives me decent hours and pays me minimum wage. How hard could that possibly be?
Then there's the problem of transportation. All the places that are desperate to hire are in places that are nearly impossible to get to by bus. Every time I go to drop off resumes I am reminded of exactly how much the bus system sucks. Of course it's easy to get to the malls, but it's down right painful to try and get to any other shopping centres. This poses a problem when you want to actually show up on time for your shift. It's all just so frustrating that I get stressed out and have a hard time sleeping, and when I don't sleep right my eating schedule is off.
All I can do now is pray that I get a job call this week and thank God for those in my life who have given me food and money to live on until I get a job. Now I need to go buy milk with the nickels I found in my old wallet.

Grrr
I got my paper proposal back and apparently half of my idea is absolute garbage, and of course it's the half that I've already written. So now I have to write a ten page paper from scratch before Friday morning. To say that I'm grumpy is an understatement.
It would be one thing if we had handed our proposals on the second week of classes so we could get some feedback before doing a bunch of useless work. Instead the prof decided to have them due after the midterm which only left a couple of weeks to write the paper. Then she took forever to mark them! Nothing bothers me more than when a prof expects students to do excellent work when they themselves take forever to get things done. I don't think that I'll take a class with this prof ever again, although the topics that we discuss are interesting.
It was also today of all days that a "friend" decided to hack my facebook and sign me up for a bunch of apps. Thankfully they only sent out a few invites to my friends so there wasn't too much to clean up, but it was still a pain in the butt. On the bright side I should get a call tomorrow telling me if I got a job or not. I really hope that I did because it would make my week so much better.
So now off to bed so I can wake up tomorrow in time for class and be conscious enough to take decent notes!!

So that was fun!! I think that this is the most time that I have spent writing such a short blog, but for anyone who figures out what I wrote you get an imaginary cookie! Or brownie, whichever you like more.
Just to be a bit nice, the cipher I used is sort of like a more complicated version of a caesar shift. There, I gave you two hints, so no complaining!!

Reaction
I was talking with a few people and somehow we got talking about Jesus (which usually ends up happening!). Then someone asked how we would react if Jesus showed up in front of us. The most common answer was that they would be shocked and not know what to do. I said that it would depend on which role he showed up as.
If Jesus showed up and was plainly in the role of Lord at the moment I would most likely fall on my face (either on purpose or because I tripped in surprise) and start to worship him. I think that in the role of Lord, Jesus would deserve the best I could manage in a shocked state. However, if he showed up in the role of Father I would immediately feel guilt at everything I had done and ask for forgiveness. I don't really have any good reason for this other than that if Jesus showed up in all his glory I feel that every wrongdoing I had done would come back into my mind. Of course, being God he would be able to forgive me and I would probably give him a hug (yes, he is the creator of everything, but as he is also my father I feel fine wanting to give him a hug). Lastly if he showed up in the role of a friend I would definitely run up to him and give him a hug! I had some shocked reactions at this answer but I don't care; I will respect and obey God in all his roles but as my friend and father I feel comfortable giving him a hug. Of course I wont be able to do any of this until I die, but I feel that this is the sort of act that I will take in heaven (lots of hugs, or whatever equivalent there is).
Just as a note when I say which role Jesus would take I mean what actions he would be performing at the time. When reading the bible I noticed that Jesus took on all three roles (and since Jesus and God are one God takes on all three as well) and you can tell which role he was in depending on what action he was taking at the time. Oh and if he was in the role of teacher I would listen, for hours or days or weeks!!!!
Of course God can do so much more but I'm not sure how I would react in those situations (other than be shocked and somewhat terrified).

Clueless
I have been recently surrounded by people who are going through trials in their relationships. Out of all the things that people talk to me about relationships are the one topic that I don't understand at all.
Besides the fact that I have never dated anyone (and have no plans to within the next few years), I just don't understand how people can be so almost overly attached to another person. Although this could be because I haven't had a deep relationship before, I also think that it just might be my personality. Since it's summer and I talk mostly to university students I have been hearing about how couples have to spend months apart. For me that doesn't sound like an earth shattering event, especially since most of the couples knew that it was going to happen when they started dating. However, now I have to deal with sulking girls whose boyfriends have already left, and extremely clingy couples how have become attached at the hip. I understand how it would suck to be separated and how you might want to spend some extra time together, but ti seems like there's a whole lot more PDA than normal.
And yes, I do not like seeing PDA aside from hugs and the occasional kiss. Why? Because walls and doors were invented for a reason, use them! Of course this doesn't make any of the couples in my life very happy so I have been trying to avoid them as much as possible by studying. Personally as much as I don't like being separated from people I love I know that I'm going to be at some point in life and I know that we wont be apart forever so I learn to deal with it. I guess I just can't stand to be around people who are almost purposely making themselves depressed. There are other things that you can choose to think about other than the fact that you can't see your loved one for a while. I don't mind the first few cry sessions, but some of the girls I know have been depressed for over a month now and all they choose to think about is how depressed they are. I'm not saying that it isn't sad, but I think that there are far better ways to handle things.
To make things worse some of the girls I know have come crying to me and asked for advice. I'll say it again: I have NEVER dated anyone. So why exactly do some people think that I have any good advice for them? I've watched other people in relationships and I've heard stories about the good and bad,but I have no clue what to say. Saying nothing doesn't work either because then they think that I don' care, which I do. I wouldn't complain about them if I didn't care enough to hate how they're hurting (even if I think they're going too far). So I have to come up with something that always ends up sounding cheesy. That is how my last few weeks outside of classes has been....
Moral of the story: don't ask me for relationship advice. I really am clueless!

Realization
I have finally realized why some sermons impact me and satisfy my spiritual hunger more than others. those sermons that are written around a topic and have scripture fit into them never leave me with a contented feeling. I find that those sermons feel artificial somehow and they don't delve deep enough into the Bible. It's like going for a long run in the hot sun and coming inside for a glass of water only to find that it's warm: you might not get dehydrated, but it's not as satisfying as a cold glass of ice water. However, those sermons that are crafted to explain a specific passage of scripture help me to gain some understanding of God's words and the way that He wants me to live. After those sermons end I feel like I want more, even if it means sitting in an uncomfortable chair for hours.
Today I decided to listen to a sermon online. I haven't listened to this particular series before, but I have enjoyed other sermon series from the same church. I can't believe that I haven't listened to these sermons before. They are exactly the kind that I like. Currently they are going through the book of Acts, one chapter at a time. having a focus point is nice because I can orient myself in the bible and not have to constantly flip pages to keep up. It also brings to my attention more verses that just me reading would have. Not that I'm saying that topical sermons are bad, but they are often done in a way that forces me to lose focus. I don't understand why some think that you have to skip all over the bible to get enough material for one topic. If one were to think about it, most chapters of the bible have a main topic going throughout them.
In any case, one of the topics this morning was the stuff that the church needs, which could also be though of as the stuff that we need to know to live a life as a Christ follower (aside from loving Jesus). There was one verse that stuck out to me, Acts 20:24 "But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I many finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God." I deeply respect all who are abel to accomplish this and continue to do God's will no matter what. I know that lately I have been having some anxieties about this summer, if I'll have a job, how I'll pay for my classes, if I'll be able to buy some clothes, etc. I have also been thinking that I might have been mistaken coming all the way to Newfoundland, but this verse does give me some hope. Paul knew that he was going to face more opposition, even more jail time and beatings, but he went where God wanted him to go and as long as he was doing God's will he would do anything. I guess that being broke isn't as bad as that and stuff is just stuff, so if this is where God wants me to be to accomplish His will for me, then I'll make it somehow. I just pray that one day I'll be able to say with confidence that I have run the race and look forward to finishing it with joy.

I guess that being broke isn't as bad as that and stuff is just stuff, so if this is where God wants me to be to accomplish His will for me, then I'll make it somehow. I just pray that one day I'll be able to say with confidence that I have run the race and look forward to finishing it with joy.

Oh Colds
I hate having a cold. I'd much rather have a stomach flu. When you have a cold people think that it's not that bad and expect you to keep going on with life as normal. At least when you vomit no one wants you to go to school and they make you take time off. On the bright side I only have to go to class for one more day this week and then I get the weekend to rest, relax, and get ahead on my class readings and research papers.
On and even brighter note, I made a bunch of soup from sale veggies (they were going bad and were half price) and some meat I had in the freezer. I'd say that there's about one piece of meat in each bowl. It's not perfect, but it's probably one of the best meals I could be eating right now. In any case it's better than the pancakes' I've been eating. I was going to make bread but I didn't think I could stay awake long enough to take the paddle out of the machine before the loaf baked. So I ended up making pancakes, it's kind of like bread...... it has flour......
But I managed to clean my room, catch up on readings, make some food, and do laundry before I got sick so I'll be able to survive about a week of barely getting by. I've done it before and I'll do it again. Oh the joys of living away from home.

The Age of the Earth
I have been reading textbooks all day in an attempt to catch up in my classes (and yes I know that there's only been two weeks of classes and it's sad that I'm already behind). During these reading (mostly about archaeology and the ancient world) I have noticed that all my books like to mock the bible. Not only do they like to mock creationism in general they seem to think that it's hilarious that people believe that the earth is only about 6,500 years old according to the bible. Now after reading through the bible and looking at the archaeological evidence I have come up with my own opinion on the matter.
Firstly, no matter how stupid you think an idea is you should never mock it. I don't agree with most things that go on in the world but I still respect people for having their own beliefs and so I think that my textbooks are written in bad taste and are highly offensive. However, that's not my main point. My main point is that although I don't think that the earth is as old as scientists say, I believe it to be more than 6,500 years old. The only reason I say this is because of the fact that there had to be time for all the different civilizations that we dig up to be formed. The worlds languages were quickly formed after the tower of Bable incident, but that doesn't mean that they would develop completely different living styles at the same time. I know that there are some Christians who would read this and want to bite my head off, but I do have a reason for thinking that a longer time frame does fit in the bible. There's a simple explanation as to how we could not know how old the earth is: we have no idea how long a year in the old testament was.
There are all kinds of ways to count how long a year is. There's the lunar year, the solar year and all sorts of years that are based on the movements of stars. Even the system we use now isn't a perfect mix of solar and lunar which is why we have leap years to equal them out. It's possible that Adam and his sons had 300 days in a year or 800 days. The fact is we have no idea, and so saying that the Bible tells us exactly how old the earth is is just arrogant. Besides, the Bible isn't a full account of everything that ever happened in the world. It's just a collection of the things that God wanted us to know, and apparently He's not too concerned about us knowing the exact age of the earth. Or at least He's not concerned about us knowing it while we're on earth, I'm sure He'll be able to show us everything once we get to heaven, and I'm planning on adding the age of the earth to my list of questions to ask (it'll be right up there with the truth about Atlantis, dragons, and sea monsters).

Oh Wal-Mart
There are some places that you don't want to be during the holiday season unless you have to. One of those places is Wal-Mart. There are so many people in the store everyday and the line ups get insane after a while. The worst part is that the customers get grumpy in the line and take it out on the poor cashiers. All the cashiers can do is smile, nod and check the people through as fast as possible. It is because of this frustration that I like the fact that I only get short 4 hour shifts. That way I'm not completely exhausted by the time I get home. I also get out of the building without wanting to punch someone.
One thing that may have helped me during this busy season was proper training. Although I now know about fraud and how to clean up barf I have no idea how to do practical things like: what to do when someone comes with a competitor price, how to input rain cheques, who to ask for more bags, how to get change. Although we have to do some training there was little practical training.
Oh well, they pay me decently and I hardly ever get horrible customers. Now for some sleep, lots and lots of sleep!!!

Problems
As much as I love being a freak, it does have its downside. I have nothing in common with the people around me. I am a Christian, but even with that I don't connect with other Christians my age. I like watching tv and movies, but not the ones the are popular. I love reading books, but I have very high standards so I end up reading less known books.
When it comes to getting along with other Christians, I have a few problems. First of all my definition of Christianity is different form other people's. For me being a Christian means having a personal relationship with God and wanting to live my life the way He has planned. Part of that is wanting to please Him by following the rules He wrote in the bible and learning what He wants me to do with my life. Another problem I have is I don't understand a lot of the worries that they have. In bible studies I have heard people asking questions about God that I think are weird. One example is when one girl asked why God let bad things happen. For me the answer is simple: God made us all with free will and He wont step in unless He's asked. If He was to stop people from doing bad things then it would mean that He took away their free will. So for me there's no mystery.
I would write more, but I should go to sleep soon, I had a migraine this morning and I think my fever is trying to make a comeback. In short, I'm not normal!!! :P And I have a slight problem with connecting to people, but that just means I have to go out and look for more freaks to hang out with!

Scary Public Private Information
I just watched a Doc Zone (yes, I love watching documentaries in my spare time) about the amount of private information that's put up on Facebook. First of all, I don't like facebook. I don't mind sharing my day with my friends, but I only want to share it with my friends. I don't really understadnt eh concept of "facebook friends". If I don't know a person in real life I'm not going to have them on my facebook. Secondly, why do people put up such stupid things on facebook?!?!?!
There are things that you should put on facebook (graduation ceremonies, hiking trips, weddings) and things you shouldn't (party pictures). Of course, if you're like me you have a name that's fairly common (I think there are about 80 people with the same name as me on fb right now) so the chances of an employer finding you is slim. However, there are still ways to find people on facebook and if someone like a prospective employer finds you on facebook and discovers the summer party pictures, they might not give you another call. It's to the point now that if someone has me tagged in a picture I remove that tag (now that they finally let you!) and I try to avoid situations when I might get a weird picture taken of me. On the bright side, I don't like partying anyway so the chances of a questionable picture of me being taken is slim to none, but I know people who are trying to look for jobs now that they've graduated university and are having a hard time because of those pesky frosh party photots.
I admit that I have some information of facebook too. I think you can see my name and age, and if you're my friend you can see my birthday, photos and interests, but I like to keep to myself as much as possible. I even try to keep this blog fairly anonymous. I know I haven't mentioned my name, I don't think I've said my age, I'm not even sure if I've mentioned my gender (though you can probably easily guess). It is rather easy to guess whereabouts I live, but there aren't many options when you move to Newfoundland. I don't even like telling people about me face to face. It's not that I think that everyone is bad,but I think that trust should be earned, and how is anyone supposed to do that over the internet?
In the end, I guess I just don't get social media. It can be nice to keep up with old friends and plan events but I don't like everyone seeing into my personal life. Having everyone reading my thoughts as I think them is creepy (which is why I read over every blog post more than once to make sure nothing weird is in them) and I'd rather not have that happen!!! so be safe, and set your privacy setting!!! And if you want to be extreme like me, when you sign up for something and they ask for you to put a location in your profile, type that you're in outer space, on the sun or in wonderland!!!
You stay safer and others get a giggle :D

Why are There No Good TV Shows?
I know that not all of the new shows this season are bad, but there are only two that seem interesting. Of course there's always Fringe, Castle, and House to watch when I'm bored, but I was hoping that there would be a good scifi show. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving Once Upon a Time and Grimm looks interesting, but I want my geeky scifi back!
And for those who say that there are a bunch of good scifi I will have to let you know about my standards for a good tv show. First of all, the show can't have sex, or at least not in your face sex (I can let a hint at it in the next room sort of thing slide) in the show. I don't need to see that and it usually ruins the story. Secondly, it has to have fairly clean language. All swearing does is demonstrate how limited your vocabulary is and how unimaginative the writers are. If you think that that much swearing is normal, go read a dictionary. Thirdly, the contents of the show have to be plausible or explained well enough in the show to make you think it's plausible. For example, Doctor Who has ridiculous science (like time travel) but at the same time it has ideas about technology taking over the world. For example, we all know that there are no such things such as cybermen, and yet the thought that our need to connect instantly with others and share information in the most efficient way possible was the cause of the downfall of the world makes us feel uncomfortable. I like shows that use social norms to make the viewer feel uncomfortable. Lastly, the show has to have good characters. If a show has overly serious or one dimensional characters I can't stand to watch them! So if you know of anything that fits all of that then let me know!
Now I better get back to studying..... But now all I need to do is finish a couple papers and study for finals. Oh and get a job, that would help too :D

What am I Going to Do?
I keep getting asked by people which coast I'm going to live on after I graduate from university. First of all, I would like to point out that I wont be finished for another three or four years. Secondly, as much as I love beautiful British Columbia, I've come to enjoy the history in St John's. Thirdly, I have never been one toreally think that far ahead.
So far in my life I've only planned ahead in a general sense. For example, when I was in high school I planned to go to university, but I never planned to go all the way across Canada. Although there were jokes about me coming to Newfoundland for university I never took them seriously. The only reason I chose Memorial was because I did a google search and MUN was one of the first options. After seeing the price, I couldn't say no. But when it comes to what I'll do after MUN, it all depends on what my life at the time is like. Depending on whether or not I'm married, or dating, or single will impact my decision. In the end, it's all up to what God wants me to do. If He wants me to go back to BC, I'll end up there,if He wants me to stay, I'll stay. That's just the way it goes. At this point in time I'm more worried about how I'm going to finish my classics paper on time than where I'll be living in four years.

Evil Fever
I woke up this morning looking forward to going to class. I was supposed to learn about politics in ancient Athens, sex and the politics of reproduction, Australopithecus, the Seleukids, and the ideologies of the industrial revolution. Instead I'm stuck in bed trying not to pass out. If you're wondering how bad my fever is, let's just say that I could heat the water for my mint tea with my forehead. Not that I'm not used to getting fevers, but they usually don't happen without reason. the reason for this fever happens to be eluding me.
I know that midterms have just passed and I don't have a job, but I've been going through that stress for months now so I don't know why I might be getting a stress fever now. And although I do like to walk around in the cold in what other people might call "thin clothing" I have never actually gotten sick directly after walking around in the cold. That and I warm up when I walk no matter what I'm wearing, and my new coat is warmer than my hoodie, even if it's not as flexible. Then again I do get sick whenever there's a storm around and there was a bunch of wind yesterday. That could be it. Or it could be a mixture of all that together.
In any case, my head hurts and I can't stand up without falling over. I think it's safe to say that staying home in bed for the day is a good idea. And maybe I'll even have scrambled eggs for lunch. And even though I can't go to class I can still read my books and take notes from them. Speaking of which it's time that I start reading about Sparta. Write to ya laters!!

Things I Miss and Things I don't
| Sunrise as seen from my room on the fourth floor of Bowater house. |
What I don't miss is all the house events and parties. I'm naturally introverted and I like being that way. If I am going to go to an event I'll go of my own free will because I want to, not because someone told me that I have to go to show support for a house that caused me a great deal of insomnia. Not that all house events were bad. In fact I would suggest that anyone living on campus take part in at least half the house events. However, it was not for me. I personally don't like staying up late and hanging around in large groups. Lots of people in a room makes me nervous and I stop talking. I also have problems relating to people as I don't like most movies, I watch weird (but amazing) shows, I like anime, and I only listen to christian music (along with some classical). So unless I'm taking the same courses, or another person has the same interests as me it's hard for me to get into a conversation with a stranger. So, I like living with only a few people.
One problem I have here in this house though is there are four girls that share one shower and every time I have to go brush my teeth at night there's someone in the bathroom! Anyway, with all that said, I'm off to bed!
Just a Small Thank You
I almost forgot! I would like to thank those who read my blog (especially those who aren't related to me) for actually reading my blog. I would especially like to thank the person (or persons) in the Netherlands (over half of my over seas views come from there) that keep reading my blogs. I never expected someone outside of Canada and United States to read my blog, so THANK YOU!!!
It's Official, I'm a Geek!!!
Of course everyone that has known me for over 2 years knows that I am a freak. I mean this in the best way possible. I am a freak in the sense that I don't fit in the mold of what most people consider to be a "normal teenage Canadian",a fact that I am rather proud of. And although I love being outside of the mold, I have always found it hard to find friends. Unfortunately, most other people my age are trying to fit into the mold so they can be accepted and find friends. For me to find someone that's interested in what I am and enjoys talking about it is rare thing, so in most cases I only find such people on fan sites. However, the unimaginable has happened today!
On my way back from Future Shop (I got a ride up there to get my wireless keyboard, but then my ride got stuck in traffic so suggested I take the bus back) I was standing at the bus stop where I have to transfer buses. Normally it's only a 10 minute wait, but this time my bus had arrived early and the second bus was running 15 minutes late. After having to stand in the insane wind (apparently gusts up to 90 km/hour) and rain someone else decided to seek shelter at the bus stop. The girl looked around my age and was listening to some music. When she went to take her ipod out of her jacket (and yes it was an actually ipod, not just any mp3 player) I noticed that she was listening to Superchick! I got a little excited and was trying to figure out what to say when she turned to me and asked if I knew where to buy christian music. An odd question, but a good conversation starter. From there we talked about shows we liked (Fringe, Doctor Who, Grimm, and several anime came up) as well as music, manga, and books. There were a few differences of opinion, but we agreed about most things. We talked the entire time we waited for the bus and while we rode the bus. In the end we got off at our own stops and never asked for eachother's contact information. The really cool part happened two hours after I got home.
I went onto my regular fan sites (and yes, I post on more than one) and noticed that someone else was online and posting at the same time. After I was finished typing up my opinion on what I thought about the sneak preview of Grimm, I looked up and saw that the other online person had just posted as well. In summary her post was about what she thought about the new tv shows coming on (yay for less vampires and more fairytales) and how she had met someone on the bust that liked the same shows. After reading half the post I realized that she was talking about me! I immediately messaged her and we thought it was weird (but cool) that we were both on the same sites. We have agreed that we are now "freaks for life". I'm so happy.
This day has proven that even freaks can find friends if they keep looking. Even with a swollen knee and insane wind, it was a good day. Now lets just hope that I can write this much in my classics essay tomorrow!!!
